Gainsborough House is built.

It is located on the former site of the Free Surgical Hospital for Women at the corner of Huntington Avenue and Gainsborough Street. The building subsequently becomes the Hotel Bartol, then is converted to office use. It is purchased by the New England Conservatory in 1981.
